Blogging: who does that?!
I'm currently trying to weight up the advantages and disadvantages of becoming an active blogger.
I had the idea the other day that in terms of my Christian life, it would be good to start making note of things more often, writing my 'feelings' and what I am learning.
"It will help me with accountability and evaluation of how I am going with things", I said to myself. If I am to get in the habit of doing it regularly, I think it will help.
Then I started thinking about a blog as the medium for my thoughts. Should these thoughts be made public? Apart from the fact that they probably aren't interesting to anyone but my brain, my thoughts are often private, hence why they are thoughts and not deeds. I'm also now considering the 'p' word... PRIDE. I have a funny knack of enjoying people's praise. Although my thoughts are probably not worthy of praise, I can probably figure out a way of being proud of them! There's something exhilarating about having your words published and followed by others.
What is the motivation for writing a blog? If you know me, you will know that I am sincerely opposed to personal myspace accounts and the like. I will explain that at another date, but if I am blogging, I don't want it to turn into a self-indulgent practice.
Well, I don't know! At the moment I think I am leaning towards privatising the journal and leaving this page in its unused state. I'll guess my decision will be broadcast intrinsically within the presence (or absence) of postings.
